1954 Marusan, Chevrolet 2dr. Sedan Stop-Go Police Car w/Siren & Light

1954 Marusan, Chevrolet 2dr. Sedan Stop-Go Police Car w/Siren & Light

One of the earliest and most difficult to find tinplate vehicles is this ’54 Chevy manufactured by Marusan and Kosuge. Both names embossed into chassis.

Very accurate representation of the actual car it includes both a tin driver and “partner”. Overall in excellent to excellent+ condition with all functions working beautifully. First example of this scarce toy I’ve seen.

Superb “black and white” detail with gold and black lettering, plus a large deputy badge on the roof.  Interior features two brown and green bench seats, metal steering wheel, detailed dashboard, and its two tinplate occupants.

Metal body is embossed with hood divider, door separations and rear trunk. As you can see it’s loaded with chrome highlighted by its toothy front grille, winged eagle hood ornament, wrap around bumpers, side molding headlight rims, and colored lithoed Chevrolet insignias front and rear. Headlights are dummy transparent celluloid. Tires are solid black rubber with tin litho whitewalls and embossed wheel covers with red centers. Windshields are original celluloid set in plated frames. Chassis is a single, large black, plate with battery box, cover, and switch.

Switch it on and its original red plastic emergency roof light starts flashing and the rear wheels start spinning. Simultaneously a loud siren sound is emitted. As it moves forward anything it strikes will cause it to veer away in a different direction.
